Volatile markets start September - focus on central banks

Hamburg, 4.9.2024

After the Labour Day holiday in the US, global markets started the month of September on a negative note yesterday, with significant losses in the technology sector in particular.

Historically, September brings increased volatility, influenced by seasonal effects and major economic decisions. European markets are also off to a weak start today. The focus is on monetary policy decisions from the Bank of Canada, which is expected to cut interest rates by 25 basis points, and the Polish central bank, which is expected to leave its key interest rate unchanged.
