First Crewed Moon Flight in Over 50 Years

For the first time in more than half a century, humans have flown to the Moon again. In April 2026, NASA's Artemis II mission took four astronauts on a roughly ten-day journey around the Moon – the first crewed lunar flight since 1972. The crew travelled farther from Earth than any humans before them. The mission paves the way for a planned Moon landing in later years.

In context: In the long run, the Moon is also meant as a stepping stone toward Mars.
