A malaria vaccine is measurably saving children's lives in Africa. An evaluation published in The Lancet found that over four years in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi, roughly one in eight deaths was prevented among vaccinated children. Around 25 African countries are now introducing the vaccine. Malaria still kills more than 600,000 people worldwide each year, most of them young children.
In context: Experts are pushing for more funding to reach every at-risk child faster.
