On 12 August a rare spectacle awaits parts of the northern hemisphere: a total solar eclipse crosses Greenland, Iceland, Portugal and northern Spain. For a few minutes it will go dark there in broad daylight, and the sun's corona will become visible. In large parts of Europe – including Germany – at least a partial eclipse can be seen. Important: anyone looking needs certified eclipse glasses; never look at the sun with the naked eye.
