Just minutes from Dubai’s high-rises, right next to the Arabian Ranches residential district, lies one of the region’s best-known polo and equestrian addresses: the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club. Opened in 2006 by the property developer Emaar Properties, the venue still blends sporting tradition with the spirit of the desert metropolis.
An oasis for equestrian sport
Covering some 250,000 square metres and designed in the style of a Spanish hacienda, the club feels like a green oasis in the middle of the desert. Two polo fields and two show-jumping arenas shape the grounds, alongside sprawling paddocks and generous stables with room for several hundred horses. A dedicated equestrian centre covers disciplines from show jumping to dressage.
Polo, the Sport of Kings
Polo has long been known as the Sport of Kings – a game demanding speed, precision and a close bond between rider and horse. In Dubai it has long had a firm place: the club hosts international polo and equestrian tournaments and draws players from around the world. Anyone wanting to get in the saddle themselves will find a riding school for adults and children alike.
More than just sport
The club is also a social meeting point. Between leather armchairs, a spa and restaurants overlooking the riding arenas, the day can wind down – whether after a match or simply over an espresso in the clubhouse. It is precisely this mix of sport, calm and elegance that gives the place its special appeal.
In context: The Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club shows how deeply equestrian and polo culture are rooted in the region – and how naturally Dubai blends a centuries-old sport with a modern way of life.
